For those who consider buying ng-book 5
Ng Book Pdf
TL;DR ng-book 5 is not worth your money especially if you're working on a real application. Possibly worth spending 5 minutes googling for pirated PDF (which is available) but even that I'm not sure of.
Let's begin with reading table of contents. You look at book cover and read 'Angular 5'. OK, that's currently the version everyone uses. You open the book and read the table of contents. It says 'Angular 4' all over the place. So this is basically the book on Angular 4. Yes I know the difference isn't very significant but still.
Then you find that a large section of the book (~90 of 650 pages) is about Redux. So if you're not planning to use Redux it's just the waste of paper/hard drive space/bandwidth for you. NativeScript could seem a little bit more relevant but, again, Angular is mostly used for enterprise apps by teams which previously used AngularJS and that doesn't very often means the need for building native mobile app (as for example in my case). That's 30 more pages wasted.
I got this book hoping it will somehow help me to make a well-designed file download directive (I didn't look for file download mechanism, only for directive design advice like how to arrange file generation in enclosing component code on click to be then passed to directive to be actually downloaded). After browsing the book I'm not even sure such advice can be found in this book. Angular's online tutorial provides the information in a way at least providing you with something to think about before designing directive's API.
So, if you have internet and Angular's website is not blocked by your country's authorities, I don't see why you would need to buy ng-book 5
